Homework

What are choice boards?

The boards are in a TIC TAC TOE like formation; like the game tic, tac, toe, students will choose THREE assignments in a row (Vertical or horizontal or diagonal.

For an extra credit opportunity- students can choose to do the 4 corners of the board INSTEAD of the 3 in a row option.  Essentially, they'd be doing one more assignment.

The boards will be due on FRIDAYS (at the END of the month- essentially, they will have ONE choice board per month). All assignments are due at once. If students do not have 3 assignments on the Friday that it is DUE, they do NOT have their HW for that week and the late policy would be in place. 10 points off per day until ALL assignments are in OR 1 week has passed at which point it would be n F/50 in grade-book.

When are they DUE?

How do Students complete them?

HOW do we complete them?

The directions for completion are always in the box of the actual assignment. GENERALLY, you will use Notebook paper to complete the assignment. You may use the SAME paper for ALL of the assignments that month if applicable.

SOMETIMES, there might be worksheet options. Worksheets will be available on the GREEN bookshelf during the week.

SOMETIMES, a                might indicated a specific assignment is mandatory, so be aware of that.

SOMETIMES, you could have assignments that include making things; posters, maps, songs, etc.

I ask that you do it neatly and to the best of your creativity and knowledge, BUT, it is HW, NOT A PROJECT. With that being said, I do not want students to spend countless hours on these choice boards. The purpose is to actually FREE some time that a student would otherwise be doing HW. With that being said, I also do NOT want to see assignments that are obviously last minute, completed on the day or day before it is due. If this happens and the quality of the work is poor, that student would LOSE their privilege of CHOICE.  On the boards, there are different shapes, do NOT worry about the shapes. UNLESS it is a star, or I tell you to follow a shape, then ignore the shapes!!

Homework Policies:

In the beginning of the year, students can expect to have nightly homework  M- TH. Beginning in October, they will receive a choice board. This is thier  MAJOR homework for the month. They will also  have one homework assignment PER WEEK and will be responsible for completing any study guide and studying for any test that might occur during that time period that they're working on choice boards. I encourage students to complete one assignment on their choice board per week when they receive them so they're not procrastinating until the end.
